January 22, 2005 - Wauseon firefighters were dispatched to a working structure fire
in the downtown area. Upon arrival, firefighters found heavy fire venting from all
windows of a second floor apartment. Despite frigid temperatures and malfunctioning
hydrants, quick knockdown was achieved and firefighters spent several hours
searching for hot spots. First floor businesses sustained water and smoke damage.
No one was home at the time of the fire. One injury was reported when a Wauseon
Police Officer sustained a cut on his head due to falling glass. The cause of the fire is
unknown.
